Joe Neebie YouTube series
I frequently use YouTube when I need to learn something. I would love to see someone show average Joe Newbie how to get into Stock Eliminator for under $10k including tow rig. Billy and others continue to point out bargain combinations that are competitive. What if we had a well produced YouTube series? Maybe Bobby Fazio would consider being the editor. Billy Nees and Mark Y could be the producers. One of us is the mechanic working along the side of a 19 year old(the mechanic could be one of you guys that have retired from racing). Do the whole thing start to finish with the 19 year old. Explain on YouTube why the combination should be competitive, shop for and buy the car. Do the prep work to the car(without using a lift). Then the 19 year old gets in the drivers seat and the experts help him through testing to get under the index and finally into competition. Film it all start to finish and make it honest, include the mistakes made in the project. We all make mistakes. In the end of the video review itemized list of the money spent.
If the 19 year old competes in 4 events the first season he gets the whole operation. Maybe this project pays for his entry fee for every race he attends in the first season. I, like others, started racing by pulling my 67 Camaro with NMW Tow Hubs with my 69 Nova 307 (ie no trailer). It is important to demonstrate that most racing operations are in a continuous evolution and there is no shame is starting with the basics. If you evolve long enough you can have a great racing operation and group of friends. I would contribute to this effort to keep drag racing alive. We need something like this video series to get the word out and get others joining our sport. Ray |

Re: Joe Neebie YouTube series
Hi James. I see your a Division1 racer. Sorry we have not met. What I am proposing is a project similar to how Bill Nees races. If you are not familiar with Billy's method go to the link below at about 11 minutes. I am proposing that starting racers use Billy's method (sorry we have not met either Billy but I am working on it ). Billy uses very economical cars and runs under the index. This is how young people can join our sport without a trust fund. A well produced and edited YouTube video on building a car like Billy's is part of what could bring more (young) people into our sport. Ray

Re: Joe Neebie YouTube series
Probably not what anyone would want to see, however it's likely possible to build a 90's GM FWD that could drive to the track and then run well under the index. Carry the slicks and tools in the trunk and go have fun. Having an easy way to get fuel in and out to pass fuel check would be one headache that comes to mind.

Re: Joe Neebie YouTube series
Thanks for the nod, Ray
I have to tell you this though. I have a friend who produces Youtube videos for a living. She posts two long form videos every week. Between all the shooting, editing and posting, she doesn't have time for much else in her life. It's a lot of work! That's not to say there's not a lot of publicity to be had in this medium. It's just not for me. I've had an idea for a while now about how to promote S/SS racing and get a new car and driver out there. Maybe I'll share it here next week. |

I know that this YouTube video is a lot of work but it would be worth it. I don't know anyone reading this that is afraid of hard work. I look forward to ideas. Ray |
Re: Joe Neebie YouTube series
If you want it to be a comedy series, have an old racer with a new FI car. It will be hilarious fun to watch for everybody except the old guy.
