Glad to see it in the classification guide.
Too bad it was rated at 260 hp. Should have been 230 hp, IMO. That combo needs at least 350 flywheel hp to barely run the K/SA index. Looks do-able, but won't be easy because there is almost zero aftermarket support. Long tube headers are available, but that's about it. Not sure if any aftermarket EFI systems will work on that engine. For now it would have to be the factory ecu. That bellhousing bolt pattern might be a challenge for PA transmissions or some other bellhousing maker to mate the C-4 up to it. I believe the 3.5 Ecoboost V-6 has the same bolt pattern., so the investment from them might be worth it. That engine looks like an 8,000 rpm screamer with the right valve springs. Deep rear gears and a deep 1st gear might be the ticket. Lightweight 4500 plus stall convertor ? Or.... a Jerico trans with a custom bellhousing ? I have been researching the 3.7 and cannot find much info on it. Looks like a fun combo once you get past the EFI system and C-4 bellhousing issues.

Dan,
Just E-Mailed Mike Baker on Monday about Classification in Pure Stock for the 2014 Mustang V6 ! did not hear anything yet probably after the Holidays I was down south a couple weeks ago with the Mustang and I got to say this should be a good combo in G/PS trim or close to 3680 lbs with a Tune ,Cold air kit and rear lower control arms and cat delete pipes the best run was a 13.27 @ 105.60 not to bad still have work to do ! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all Tony K. |

Certainly apples and oranges, but somewhat pertinent, I’ve got a 2013 F150 with the 3.7 motor. This replaced a 1984 Dodge D250 with a 360.
In every conceivable category, the F150 is from another planet. (This is a base, XL “work” truck vs the old Dodge which was a “Prospector”… the high end at that time.) The 3.7 in the truck may be tweaked a little different than the Mustang, but compared to that old 360, the 3.7 is like a rocket. It can easily tow/pull anything the 360 could, and then some. |

I am very interested in your combo. The NHRA K/SA index is 12.65 @ 3550 lbs raceweight. What rear gear ratio was in the rear end on that 13.27 run ? Your MPH looks good ! What were your rpm shift points ?

The 2011 truck 3.7 is the same just a different tune, get a tuner and a cold air kit and you will get more power and better mileage !
Al, there is nothing wrong with the factory PCM it is very tunable and tuning software out there and tuners if you are going to run a C4 trans should not be a problem just shut some stuff off in the PCM. There is more aftermarket parts coming every day ! Headers Off-Road Pipes, Exhaust , Drivetrain, Light Weight Wheels and Tires All kinds of Suspension Parts ,Camshafts, Pistons just to name a few things that are already out there. Tony K. |
