Question Hood scoopes

Dont take this wrong but when did NHRA allow hood scoops on 1966 Street Hemis and the fiberglass Ford hood and scoop on the 427 Ford Fairlane station wagons (west coast car) with either one 4 or two 4's? I think they look cool but they originally did not come on those combos. 67 was the first year for the Street Hemis as a WO or an RO S/S package and the 2 door hard tops and sedans were the only Fairlanes with a glass hood and scoop. Was this a change made in recent times? Im just asking when this came about? Was it a letter from Carrol Shelby or mother MoPar?

Terry I believe your right, because MOPAR DID NOT put a scoop on anything in 1966... The STREET HEMIS were available in Dodges & Plymouths in the hardtop or sedans in 66 & 67, but WITHOUT a scoop!!! In 1967 the RACE HEMIS were available in Dodges & Plymouths WO and RO package was superstock ONLY and hardtop ONLY and yes WITH a scoop!!! Your memory serves you well, not sure about the FORDS but we know someone that does.Maybe there was a letter -[MORE PAPER]

And how did the single 4 NASCAR verson end up with a scoop? Did you ever see a NASCAR race back in 1964 or 65 where the mopars were running a hood scoop? I watched and I didnt see a single mopar with a hood scoop running around Daytona !

Jason has run his Belvedere as both a 66 w/o scoop and 67 w/scoop..That was always the argument with Judy Lily's 67 2dr S/S sedan that it supposedly came straight from MaMopar as a RO equipped 2dr sedan. If I remember what I read about it is they made them change it back to a non scooped hood.

And I remember a Stock racer who had a 428 CJ '68 Cougar in E/S. He fought NHRA for a ram-air system & they said "no, never existed". I'm no Ford expert but I would bet the evidence is there that Cougars were available with ram-air in '67-'68 (non shaker style).

Dosent matter what year he claims.....The hood scoop ONLY came on the WO and RO Super Stock package 2 door hard top Belvederes. All the Judy Lilly stuff was just MoPar tryng to pull some BS.....Like the new DP's......lol. I lived thru that era and years earlier but lets just say that someone left the barn door open at NHRA and ALL of the cows (and Elvis) have left the building ! Its not what is stock or OEM but its what NHRA allows you to get away with is all that counts or matters.
