New Mopar Crate Motor
Do you think that there is any chance that IHRA will allow this one? Could be pretty good around 400 factored HP. Fun for sure especially with a stick.
Mopar Performance revives Six-Pack small-block The 410 Magnum Six-Pack crate engine is available from Mopar Performance photo courtesy Mopar Performance The triple-carbed Mopar engine is a mainstay of the muscle car genre, and one that makes fans of all makes and models take notice. Back in the day, Chrysler offered the three-deuce arrangement only on small-block engines in a limited run of Challenger T/A and ?Cuda AAR models, which were really only offered to the public to homologate the package for Trans-Am racing. Now Mopar Performance has combined the trio of Holleys with a small-block and added the benefit of more cubes. The 410 Magnum Six-Pack crate engine is based on a brand-new block, which MP claims is a 340 piece rather than the late-model Magnum type most of its recent crates have used. The block is stuffed with a 4.00-inch cast stroker crank, which, when combined with the 4.040-inch bores, creates 410 cubic inches. The cylinder heads are cast-iron Magnum R/T ?big-valve? assemblies, though they utilize the Chrysler LA-series small-block intake bolt pattern, allowing the aluminum manifold to bolt right up. The compression ratio is a pump-gas compatible 9.7:1 and the camshaft is hydraulic, with 248 duration at .050 and .508-inch lift. The engine comes with an eight-quart center-sump oil pan and Mopar Performance cast aluminum finned rocker covers, but you?ll have to round up a set of carbs yourself (MP has them, too). Rated for 450 horsepower and 475-lbs.ft. of torque, the Six-Pack crate small-block makes a perfect powerplant for the street/strip Mopar |
Re: New Mopar Crate Motor
-=drool=- Although at the factory 450hp, most cars would end up in B/CM, so you'd need a full cage. Some heavier models might get into D/CM Since the engine doesn't come with the 6Pak setup, I wonder if IHRA would let/make you run the standard 750 Holley.

Re: New Mopar Crate Motor
Beard that is the point, no single carbs allowed. We had a car we ran in NMCA back in the 90's and we ran 3 BG split dominators on a six pack. After spending a HUGE amount of money on that and a sheet metal intake we ran faster with a modified stock setup.

Ironic you should mention that... I think it was you and I that was talking about the Crate Motor Super Stock idea the other day. I got digging around, and I think that a couple of the fast guys like Truell and Womble are good candidates to run SS/Modified Stock... something to look at.

Re: New Mopar Crate Motor
I like the 440 small block crate motor better, overrated at 540hp but drop that some and an A/CM A body would be a neat package. http://www.mopartsracing.com/parts/blocks.html, page down about half way.
