What do you think it could be?
So, looking for some opinions on this situation. I had the race car out to the track finally on Friday for some check out passes before the regular weekend races. I pull into the water box and do my burn out and the car sounds like its laboring a bit as it usually it has a nice high pitch scream…ok. So I go ahead and stage up, footbrake it to my normal 4000 rpm and the light turns green and I swap feet matting the gas expecting to see the sky but no…the rpm on the tach goes up but the car just drives away like its pulling away from a stop sign. I drove easy down the track and when I shifted it seemed firm and crisp as normal. I have some ideas but I am looking for opinions to confirm my suspicions. For reference it’s a 10.40 bracket car with a 625 hp SBF, C4 with an 8” converter with a 4500 stall. Trans was freshened in ’09 and the TC was flushed out at the same time. Fluid level and color are normal with no burnt smell. Thoughts?
I don't know if this needs to go to the bracket section or not... |
Re: What do you think it could be?
sounds like something went sour in the engine. Spun bearings or possibly a broken rocker arm, valve springs. I would pull the filter and check for metal in the oil.
