Is my brake porportioning valve bad
Has my 67 camaro brake porportioning valve gone bad ? All of the 4 drum brakes work and hold strong and release fine .The main problem is with line lock it just can't lock down front brakes . Put new hurst line lock in end of last year , just due to the old hurst line loc soleniod started to stick/died . It just seams like it holds at half the pressure , compaired to if you just push on the pedal and try to turn the wheels . The line lock is get full 12vdc . All line connected wright in and out . Its the only thing left . Anybody run in to this ? Ken R.

Ya thats what I've been doing just to get by . But it can push you wright out of the burn out and miss putting enought heat in the slicks . I dont think my cars got a porportion valve , I think its just a pressure switch that lights the dash light .

Your last comment is correct- drums on all four won't need a proportioning valve. Try adjusting the shoes to the point they start to drag.

Ken, have you put new lining on it lately? Did you have the new lining re-arched to the drums?

Billy Nees might be onto something. We had the same problem that drove us crazy. We put on new brake pads and new rotors. Turned out that we didn't have the above broken in properly.
