SGMP Sale
I've read a little junk on the net tonight about S Ga being sold on courthouse steps this morning. One mention said Div race may be out, now. I hope this gets ironed out asap ! Anyone else have any credible info on this ?

Re: SGMP Sale
Not sure this adds any credibility but new owner associated with Orlando Speedworld?
http://competitionplus.com/drag-raci...-template-2015 For anyone who hasn't ran there it's a first class facility. |
Re: SGMP Sale
That little blurb on Competition Plus is gone now. Wonder if someone asked them to take it down?

Re: SGMP Sale
It might be getting worse? Just got a Facebook update the banquet scheduled for this weekend has been canceled. Also last month the Div 2 Bracket Racing Finals, which was scheduled for SGMP was moved to Atlanta. I know of allot of people who were not happy about that and might not go to Atlanta for that race. Time will tell..

Re: SGMP Sale
I asked about the division race to a VERY credible source and he said the rumor "was becoming less true". Not trying to spread anything but the info I have is that Ozzy Moya(OSW) bought it from Frank Dean. News has been very hush about it today.

Re: SGMP Sale
If SGMP is sold, I hope the new owner will have more sence than the old owner. It seems that division four Houston Baytown track sets the points meet on the same date as SGMP. A shift a week or two in either direction will ensure more cars for both Baytown or SGMP. With the car counts being down, it would seem to me the tracks would work with each other in order to have more participants.

Re: SGMP Sale
I hope the race is held somewhere that weekend. It's a long drive from Minnesota to end up with the race not being held. The reason to go to the Gators is the LODRS the week before, then over to No Problem, a nice southern swing.

Re: SGMP Sale
Any more news @ the March 6-8 LODRS race ?

Re: SGMP Sale
Neither the NHRA.com Lucas Oil schedule nor the Division 2 website reflect that change, but it makes sense. A month is an awfully short time to bring a track up to the point where they could host a divisional event. It's going to take awhile for the new management and staff to get their stuff sorted out.

Re: SGMP Sale
Direct from NHRA:
"NHRA officials announced today that the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event previously scheduled for Valdosta, Ga., March 6-8, has been moved to Auto Plus Raceway at Gainesville, Gainesville, Fla. The event takes place the week before the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, giving racers in the Lucas Oil Series back to back events in Gainesville, Fla., and three races in four weeks at the facility, which also plays host to the second event in the 2015 NHRA Southeast Division, Feb. 20-22. The Summit Racing Series event scheduled for Feb. 28 at Auto Plus Raceway has been cancelled to help accommodate this schedule change." Larry Sullivan is correct. There is a lot of arranging and rearranging to be done before a race such as the Divisional can be held. You wouldn't want to continue with the same staff. Insurance and financial paperwork must be plowed through. Even with the full cooperation of the NHRA there is just too much red tape to contend with. We all want a good, well run race and there is just not enough time to get all the ducks in a row. Jim . . |
