Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
I recieved an unsigned letter today from the Texas area. I dont have a way to scan it but I will tell you word for word what it said "Mr. Gomez, I read your post on class racer about your stolen car. I have to say that I was offended that you would ask people to help you build another car. It is not our fault that you had your crap stolen and I as well as many other racers on the site could care less. We all work hard to build and maintain our stuff and here you come along wanting us to give you our hard earned parts and money. If you got any money I think you should send it back and just forget about racing. You are exactly what is wrong with the world today. Another loser wanting a handout. Just delete your post and your profile and move on because if you do ever make it to the track, I as others will make sure to make your life and short racing career a living hell.
Yours Truly A Real Racer" As some of you can see this was very hurtful. I wish the person writing it had enough nerve to tell me his real name or give me contact information so we could discuss this. I went back and read my post and I can't find anywhere that I asked for donations of parts or money. Mack Reeves suggested it. If I have offended any of you in any way please tell me. It was not, nor is it now my intent to offend anyone. If you are requesting me to take down my post I will do that also. I was only trying to help the kids involved in this project. This is not a benefit to me. Again I am sorry If I came across wrong or was out of line posting what I did. Sincerely Floyd Gomez |
Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
This guy calls himself "A Real Racer". I know a lot of "Real Racers" and this guy is no "Real racer"! Real Racers are a family. They may spat once in a while but they also come to the aid of other racers. This guy is no "Real Racer". Jim

I would say the person who wrote it is unhappy with their own situation, or one that trys to elevate themselves by making others feel lesser, the world is full of them. Pay no mind, Mack offered, and Mack I can tell you from experience is a very hell of a nice guy with a solid head on his shoulders.Others offered, and well ante up regardless of what the joker from Texas says. I saw no begging, I saw no moaning to have someone offer, (trust me my Ex wife is STILL king at that people give her money just to shut her up) I saw nothing but good intentions and a fellow trying to do something positive who took a hit , and I saw offers from others to help him. If the car had been a personal venture with no others in mind, well maybe the offers for help would have been different. But I can say what bothered me most was something like this can jad a kid forever, or a long time. BUT the support to restore it to a right place can return that loss and their faith in their fellow mans intents. Thats why me and my Dad offered. After Mack had said to bring some donations together. If you are still interested in that Monte let me know. I can get it a hair cheaper ($800) as I told my Cousin what the use was for. He was tickled someone could use it. But well still put (me and the old man) our share in so.....If you found another project that fits the needs better thats fine too and were still game as well. Ignore him.....an obviously bitter and unhappy person, hell who knows maybe the thief or related to the thief with such complete stupidity as that. |
Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
wow, as i remember floyds post i dont remember him asking for donations or anything to the fact. what i can tell u is the moron that post this is no real racer, if he was one he`d have some sort of compassion to a fellow racer/ kids.
gentleman and ladies, what we have here is a first class loser and a real jack@$s. maybe just maybe this is the guy or group that steals the rigs and takes them south of the border. |
Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
Floyd,
You certainly didn't ask for anything and you have no reason to either apologize or reword/erase your original post. I would contact the police, kinda sounds like the writer is making a threat of sorts. A motivated cop could possibly find out who the writer is. At any rate, people who don't sign their letters or use their name in correspondence or even in forums like this are cowards and aren't worth even a passing thought. |
Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
Floyd, If I were you, I would delete the "Real Racer's" message and carry on working with the kids.....as I see it you did or said nothing to deserve crap like this.
If this idiot did ever show up at the races and gave you a hard time, and I doubt he ever will, I'm sure your racer friends would back you... |
Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
Floyd,
This turd is not a "real racer"; real racers come to your pit to help you make the next round even means loaning you parts off their cars just so you can continue to compete...those are real racers! Real racers are real people who reach out to those in need. JimR |
Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
I also have never read nor even thought that Floyd was asking for a handout.
The car wasn't stolen from him anyway. It was stolen from the kids who were building it. The fact that so many here were more than willing to offer help does not mean that he even asked. It is a tribute to the spirit of brotherhood amongst "real racers" and the overwhelming outrage among them at having this project derailed by one or more low life dirt bags. Now comes this clown who is trying to pour additional cold water on Floyd and the kids.. Don't take it Floyd. Anonimity is the mask of the coward. So don't let this horse's hind end cause you any further concerns.... Helping kids... "No man stands so tall as when he stoops to help a child" ... is more than most have/take the time to do. You are doing good.. Keep going and doing good, and forget about tiny minds who seem to want to rain on the parade of one the good guys. How that moron even figured out to address a letter is a mystery to me. If he is reading this, He can pm me and I will be glad to post my address and he can send me something, and the FBI will up his butt before he say. "Oh Crap, I am busted"! I think that letter would qualify as hate mail and a threat on you personally, and if it is postmarked from out of your state, even better... Hold onto it, and talk to anyone you know in law enforcement, and see what they have to say. All I can say, is the check is in the mail! David The New Hemi Guy |
Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
Floyd, so many others ahead of me have given you excellent advice. We all did what we felt was right and I have no regrets on what was and is still being done.... Mack

Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
Floyd,
I take this one way. Simply, if the writer hasn't the courage to sign his real name AND give you contact information. He's not worth worrying yourself over. As well, I too, saw nowhere that you asked for anything from anyone on the forum. Another take, here's how I look at this little internet community. How is it any different than any other, just has a broader reach. Don't we all have friends, acquientances, some even rivals, that we share things with? If I have parts and pieces that I don't need, many times no else thinks they need either. If for some reason, someone can use them, I can and have given them away. I'd say he's just a bitter person, used to work with a guy like that. Wasn't happy with his own situation in life, so, to make himself feel better, he'd put everyone else down. We all offered to help. |
Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
Floyd,
Where was it postmarked? |
Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
I agree with Monty....who ever sent this letter is most likely involved with the theft and probably feels threatened, which shows some hope.
Floyd NEVER asked for ANYTHING. He only voiced his devastated feelings towards the lowlifes that would do such a bottom feeding act. To the ball-less a-hole who sent the letter: I think the one who puts their hand out IS YOU.:mad: The work of a thief makes the top of that list. Floyd on the other hand has done the opposite. He's put his work, money, time and effort into not only this project, but giving a bunch of kids an opportunity. I'd say you're scared and perhaps YOU move on to something else that doesn't require stealing from those who've earned, like holding a cardboard sign at a highway exit or intersection. Floyd doesn't have the problem....YOU DO!!! |

Whomever it was certainly doesn't have a clue ;)

Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
Thanks to all for your kind words and encouragement. I was hoping I hadn't offended anybody. I know not everyone believes in my goals and I can accept that. I just feel it is a good thing to keep kids off the street, teach them how to respect power and learn what it takes to be part of a team.

Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
Floyd, I was hoping the post mark might help narrow down the location of the nameless coward.
I'm sure he won't have the guts to post his drivel here. At least not under a real name of his own. |

Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
Floyd, this guy who wrote you needs to be in your shoes and I'll bet he changes his tune. As someone else said, we are a family of racers who look out for each other. When we hear of a member getting their stuff stolen we look out for the stolen items in an attempt to get them back to you and the thieves put in jail. If I got my stuff stolen I would have done the same thing. I would look closer to home (50mile radius). Put the word out to everyone you know.

Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
Floyd,
I've been around awhile, and seen an awful lot, but this is the first time I can remember a person being threatened just because they were trying to help someone else! We are our brother's keeper, no matter who that brother is! I'm embarrassed that this lowlife should identify him or herself as a "REAL" racer, when in fact he or she isn't a real human being. Please don't be discouraged! You'll bounce back from this and be all the stronger for it! Life is a circle! Lew |
Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
Anyone with the time to write a letter and not have the stones to sign it or discuss it has no life.
The real attention needs to be on the scum that took the car! Save that letter for the port o let at the track. Sometimes they run low on toilet paper. |
Re: Clearing the air regarding tough night thread
I want to thank everyone for their support and encouragement. We have a team meeting scheduled for tonight to decide on a body style and get the next project going. I will post an update as soon as we have one.
