Sorry folks about the lack of reports on the final day. I needed to get home after losing in the 2nd round. Before I left I had a good talk with Gary Richard about supporting this race again next year. He was very please with the turnout overall, especially in Stock. Gary assured me that he will be onboard for next year if the interest is there.
I encourage everyone in D1 to let Gary know you liked his format and would like to see more races like this. At $140 entry fee, and a $2500 payout with an extra $300 for the CIC or Quick 8 winner, its a good deal to say the least. The weather on Saturday late did put a stop to the finish of the Quick 8 and CIC race, but overall the race went on without a hitch. There was plenty of time shots for all, and you still could have got to the track on Sunday and raced the eliminator. The wind was pretty stiff on Sunday as you can see from the flag, It was a strong cross wind. Top Dragster ran 1/8 mile because of the wind. The race was finished in a timely manner, and thanks Nitro Joe for all the rounds in Stk and SS. |

Re: Live from the NHRA PC Richard National Open @ Atco Racew
A big Thanks to Gary Richards and his team along with Dave Mohn and the crew at Atco for a well-run event. Even though the car counts weren't what they were expecting Gary still went above and beyond and said that the $2,500 to win would be guaranteed. I know Stock and S/Stock were the only classes to have over the 32 car minimum to guarantee the purse. Why people didn't show up in other classes is beyond me but, I heard that they thought the $1,000 bonus that PC Richards was putting up was in the form of a gift certificate towards PC Richards so they didn't show.......well, that was incorrect, it was an additional grand onto the purse as I saw the winner in S/Comp's winner check for $2,500. I also heard some people were not coming because there was no contingency involved with this race.....not sure what else they could do for you guys to get you to come and support an event for $140 bucks, I know the weather scared some people away also but, Dave and his crew did a great job with battling the rain, pollen and wind. Dave made it a point to come around to every S/Gas driver before the 2nd qualifying run and let them know that they would be giving them a 3rd run on Saturday because they were in the lanes on Friday when the rains came. It was a great event to be at and I hope Gary will jump back on board for 2017 and do it again. Thanks GARY!!!!!

Re: Live from the NHRA PC Richard National Open @ Atco Racew
Who was left to split the money in the CIC race?

Re: Live from the NHRA PC Richard National Open @ Atco Racew
They only ran 1 round of the CIC race, the wind picked up, rain was on it's way, so they pulled the plug and everyone put their stuff away. lots of cars left in the CIC race
