Re: "Lollygaggers"
Come on you guys
We know when we are about to be called After all we sit for hours hoping it is sooner than later You can have a portable radio You can hear and see others making a move If you are not ready to race you lose |
Re: "Lollygaggers"
I do not understand how you could be late to the staging lanes, especially when we get to run at 7:00 AM. I plan the previous nights activities so I can be prepared in the morning.
I rationalize what pair do I want to be out. Should I be first in case I am one of the first couple of pairs out at 7:00 AM for eliminations the following day. Do I plan on being the last pair or so in the event that eliminations will be a couple of hours away or will be at late in the afternoon. I try to prepare the best possible scenario that I may face. My car and I are ready to go the night before. Now the reality side of what happens: The plan on going to bed at say 9:00 PM goes out the window as the fun is continues. Beer usually tastes good on a Saturday night. The car has already been taken care except for the one thing that I forgot (insert anything). The food was great and friends retire. I think I'll have one more beer...................................... .....................................holy crap! Its 1:00 AM I'm going to bed........................................... The sound of the first Super Street car cranking up is the alarm clock, "Lord, do I really look like that " as I gaze at the mirror........ Wheres that Lil John..... Now, I need coffee. OK, have we got it together, get in the car and lets go........Darn it I forgot (repeat insert). I hope I'm on time to get to the lanes, theres not another stocker in sight as I head through the pits from the great pit space I was given, only maybe a half mile away from the starting line. At least I do not have to warm it up. Ahhh, I get there in time. That was'nt bad. What do you mean my opponent is not here yet? If a person is always late and causing difficult situations, they should be warned once. If it occurs a second time then the officials should close the lanes down when appropriate. Re: "Lollygaggers"
Just go back on drag race central and look who are the last one down the track at all the races. You can see the pattern from there and if you were running two cars don,t you think you whould what to be the first down the track so you had more time between rounds?

Re: "Lollygaggers"
They lanes were closed off at Bradenton Fl. at a Div 2 points race for stock eliminator in 1979 locking people out so its been done before

Re: "Lollygaggers"
Since competitors are allowed to run in two eliminators how would you shut the lanes down on them??? I don't think problem is with the competitors it's with the way the lanes are handled. Once a pair is established they are not required to move to the front. I know if you give me and 99% of the competitors the choice we aren't going to the front on a new day when you have no idea what to dial. I've suggested this numberous times that you notify the racer their pair is esablished, give them some time to get ready, a minute or two, then go back to them and request they move into the lanes. Give someone a second warning and that's it. If they don't move up after that OUTTA HERE!!!

Re: "Lollygaggers"
Everyone must be guilty of "lollygaggin" from time to time, because I haven't seen anyones name yet. The big bad guy will continue to have his way with you "take your lunch money" until you make a stand "grow a pair". They may not be able to see your point of view. So, in a sportsman kinda way you approach them "man to man" with your concerns and try to work it out. If it's not worth a little effort on your part, it must not really be much of a problem. Writing about it on here just proves to them that you are scared of them, and won't face them "one on one". That builds their confidence, not yours! Be honest with them and state your concern, work it out....if NHRA, IHRA gets involved the result could be worse for everyone. Good luck!

Re: "Lollygaggers"
What would happen if we all waited until the chronic late guys go up?
Maybe its OK for the touring sportsman to get a little special treatment - after all they spend more money with NHRA than we do. I want to figure out the strategy and what they learn by being late so I can do it. Then I will be later than them. LOL :-) |
