Shipping weight was raised compared to 13, so the 14 can fit in C, or even D if a stick. |

__________________ Same engine in a chevy II is 236 that's 19 hp less. So if I would race a chevelle in SS/LA a 13 lb class it could be 247 lb lighter than a chevy II with the same engine. How much ET would that be worth .Also why would you what to run SS/LA when you could run SS/MA where there is 4 tenths difference in index and only 2 tenths between L and K. Tom |
Re: HP Adjustments - New Combo's Added
Tom,
If you can get a '65 Chevelle down to 2990 with driver for SS/LA -- you be cheatin'. Time to break out the old 4-door again. When we last ran it, it was 3460 lbs. for SS/MA. Now, it's only 3425 lbs. for SS/NA, and 3210 for SS/MA. But heck, racing the Chevelle against your Nova II is like a Clydesdale against a throughbred. You deserve at least some of that 17 HP. \ Jerry |

Re: HP Adjustments - New Combo's Added
I am not bitching we race the cars we like, I was just stirring the pot a little. The hard top chevy IIs with the current hp rating of 236 with a auto and current weight per hp is 11.99 that makes it a j car with a min weight of 2765 and if you can get a chevy II down to that you would be cheating too. In GT the hp on the 283s is 233. Tom

Re: HP Adjustments - New Combo's Added
Both Tom's,
Of course you know that I know it isn't right. The Chevy II's were one of the first cars "kinda" factored way back in the early eighties when they set the index for SS/LA at 11.75. That was done because at the time the Nova's were somewhat dominant I guess. But it wasn't fair to get the lower index and then get factored hard too. But ya gotta remember, we were all at 235 HP at one time. That's why we built the Olds. There was no way we could keep up with the 307's back then at 3460 lbs.. Now, even though the Olds is fast, at 217 HP I'm pretty sure the 4-door will run right with it.. Jerry |
