Do it once and it will fix itself.

They do something similar in Div 2. Two cars get randomly picked to be first and second pairs out. If you "Lollygag" you are out. I know it's random because I begged and pleaded to pick me (they didn't).
I like the idea of just driving to the scales, fuel check then back to the trailer. No waiting in line, starting and stopping. For the qualifiying passes I'm almost always the first car down the track. This way I'm number one qualifier at some point in the race. LOL

1) When we posted the first three pair, there would be one or two of these first six cars who waited and showed up last. Therefore holding up the entire session. What time limit should be given?

)How do you answer the racer who always shows up early in a session and wants to run early...when his opponent for the round waits 'til the very end. Why is is "OK" for the late racer to control the pairing? One wants to run early, one wants to run late...but the "late" arriver is in control. The early racer wants to know why we allow it?

I don't know what the proper answer is for either question. The usual answer is to just shrug the shoulders, and say there's nothing I can do about it. I'm interested in your answers as racers are split about 50-50 on this. Just consider me an interested spectator with a with a pretty good cheap seat to watch the races from.

This is easy - do you think they put up with this crap in any other form of motor sports?

Simple if the other half is not there he is out.

If both are not there - they both lose. And so on down the line.

What about - first car there gets automatic lane choice - not important enough.

It should not be a joke to have a call to the lanes and have some guys act like they just got to the track.

Give me a break - get a life - show up on time or lose.

Almost all of us would think it is fair to DQ you - if you are late.

A few prima donna types would wine.

I've said it on here before: If you don't notify head of staging that you are working on the car and are trying to make the round, then the first pair of cars down the track closes the back of staging and no one else gets in.

Nitrojoe has the idea!

I agree fully with that. It's one thing to be working on the car, another to be sipping coffee in the motorhome.

Same thing happens at the IHRA races. They call Hot rod for 30 minutes and 5 or 6 cars show up but just as soon as the first burnout starts 25 more get in line. I wish they would send them back. The only exception would be a broke car or a driver running 2 classes.

Hot Rod came up pretty quick yesterday at Piedmont. It was quick rod that didnt come. Where i was parked I saw them run one class out completly out and only 2 quick rod cars. They had been calling them for 10 minutes. When the first 6 were in the lanes they started then the rest came. When we ran the track at Piedmont we didnt ever have this problem because we ran without racers and closed the lanes one day on a TT session. Never had another problem just pissed off a few racers.

At the NHRA events there is really no reason for being late to the lanes as they have an official riding around on a scooter holding a sign to let you know who is being called to the lanes. Yesterday at Piedmont there was no PA system on the back row and I couldn't hear when they called us up. The radio was on in the motorhome but I rarely sit in the motorhome to listen. After the first round there were no SS cars around us so I was last up...my point is there are some situations where drivers may be late getting up. It is a problem at most races where the same drivers are late everytime though.

How about if you qualfied # 1 that pair should go out first then so on and so on.

That is just my thought

THAT is the whole problem.I`m sure there are at least a few game players in each class in every division that like to think that they are above the rest, and come to the lanes when they feel like it. This causes big bunch ups in the back of the staging lanes when the cars are being paired up for eliminations, as it forces their opponents to wait for the "lollygaggers". As mentioned, it is usually the same people each time. A chain or rope across the back of the lanes once the first pair are in the burnout box (And an offical to ensure the lanes are indeed closed) sounds great to me. Here in Div.6, it seems that the same few are always worming their way in at the last second, I guess a good hair do is more important than calling when your class is called.
