Agree 100%.....the FC7 6 pack car and its all I mean REAL correct except the motor, but it is a real RT, the 383 just went poof through the ages. It was bought as a driver even though it was show condition and really more of what people reffer to as a trailer queen....yeah not us....

Since the motor or tranny wasnt an issue and it was driven.

But if you break it out, paid 55k for it....super nice. Cant buy a new Mercedes or BMW convertible for that....drive the piss out of it, let it rust and drive it and treat it no different that a "daily commuter car" Whats the BMW worth in say 15 years ? Whats the Chally worth ? My bet is over half the original purchase price...the Mercedes ? I have no idea....but its still not as cool. You can ALWAYS re-restore a car, while you cant make it original again.....so thats why the Yellow RT Conv, I drove it for a while this summer, but it makes me twitcy as I cant fix things like the belting wear on the seats, theyre original and perfect....but well....I can never make them original agai..

About 4 years ago I had a new Caddy, it was 6 months old and it got Totaled...Ins paid off nicley. It was March and I had no car, I didnt like the caddy and was trying to decide on what I wanted next....I had in the Garage a 7k mile 64 Imperial Convertible I had bought the Nov before from the Grandson of a guy who bought 2 in 64, died in 66....I made it my daily driver until November put over 9k on it and sold it for 5k more than I paid......new cars are horrible investments, even driving the old stuff is better :) Beside the Imperial rode better than the Caddy :) Granted the gas mileage wasnt the greatest in the City but most of mine is xway..I think when I put my foot into it from stop light to stop light I could feel it drinking gas....lol

Unfortunatley other people dont see it that way....hence the supply and demand issue.....They dont see the older stuff as "reliable" but we know different, electronic ignition, some new compound belts hoses and seals and your good.

BAH......Then again if everyone was like me , the roads would look like a Barret Jackson mobile auction....

I think calling them "tribute cars" sounds stupid also. But, at least they're not trying to pass them off as originals like was done quite often a few years ago. At least they're being honest about what they are. Maybe it's because buyers are now a lot sharper than they used to be.

And why do people buy "tribute cars"? Because they're driveable. They're fun. You can relive your youth. Some of the originals are so valuable, you can't drive them for fear of hurting them. You're afraid to turn them more than 3,000 rpm for fear of launching an original numbers matching engine.

With "tribute cars" you can drive them like they were meant to be driven when new. If you should scatter a motor, no big deal. You put another in and it's still worth what it was before.
