Default Passing of Mark Osterbye

Wanted to inform people of a passing of an incredible individual, Mark Osterbye. I met Mark in 1985 @ E-town points meet. I had an issue with my carburetor and he gladly looked it over and told me what he thought of my situation. From that day forward I was fortunate to start hanging out with Mark and @ the time his girlfriend Ellen. They would call me on Saturday and ask me what I wanted for dinner as I would stay at their place Saturday Night then race E-town on Sunday. I traveled the country with Mark and boy did he teach me the ins and outs of racing and feeling what the car was doing in case there was an issue. I remember fondly a time @ the Summernationals that Mark was driving Ron Cranston's SS/EA Camaro and if anyone ever saw that car you know it was on the bumper every run. Well I'm in the burnout box and watching his car leave, I see through the back widow he shifts 1-2 in the air I thought that was the coolest thing I've ever seen. When I was at the scales I told him what I saw and he tells me that where it felt like it likes to be shifted he never looked @ the tach. I've got so many stories with him that I crack up over all the time. Mark was my first Racing Mentor he also became a close friend of mine and my Family. He loved his Italian dinners at my mom's house. Mark will be missed by so many people he was a wealth of knowledge as a matter of fact I used some of his wisdom this year @ INDY. Mark will be missed and he'll be watching over us wondering why we did what we did God Speed Mark and THANYOU for everything. RIP 1941

Great guy. He helped me even though, at the time, he didn't know me. I watched him every chance I got. It's shame he is gone so young. RIP Marky.

Mark built part of my stocker back in 09.
He was just a great guy all around & would lend a hand at the drop of a dime.
And Yes Ron he sure did love his Italian dinners !!

Godspeed Mark.

Mark had had some health problems the last few years which is why it made me especially happy that he got to be with his good friend Jeff Tripp when he won the open at Numidia earlier this year. He truly loved our sport and was such a wealth of knowledge. I always felt honored when he stopped by my trailer and was always thankful for all his advice.
May he rest in peace. Roy Kinslow

There are givers and takers in life.... Marky definitely gave far more than he ever received. Helped many for the simple reason he had a passion for cars and loved helping people. A pretty simple guy summed up clearly by his nickname "The Voice of Reason". Finished as high as 8 in the world in SS when it really meant something......

Rest in peace Marky. Hopefully you're eating a big plate of spaghetti and meatballs, a cold drink and surrounded by all the great racers already up there. See you in the staging lanes on the other side......

Sad to hear the passing of Mark. Met him through Brian Moorhead when I was flogging a new Firebird. Mark is one of the most knowledgeable Super Stock guys I’ve met. Condolences to his family. God speed friend. Bobby and Nancy Rashid
