Re: RIP Mike Heintz
I couldn't believe this sad news when I saw it today.
Jim, at the Heintz Bros. shop just confirmed it and said Mike had a routine physical just before Thanksgiving. It was at that physical cancer was found. I first met Mike and Steve back in the 60's when we were both just starting drag racing at the old Shuffletown and Mooresville dragways near Charlotte. He was always someone I counted as a friend. I never heard or knew of any racer that didn't speak fondly of Mike. A gentleman and a great racer. I consider it a great honor Mike and Steve and I were inducted into the North Carolina Drag Racing Hall of Fame at the same time in 2013. May peace be with you old friend. Re: RIP Mike Heintz
In all the years that I have seen Mike at the race track, regretfully we have never had any really long conversations only brief ones. But you would never know that because every time you saw him it was like you had been best friends for ever. Someone else posted that he was a real gentleman and I think that sums him up best. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to know him. RIP Mike.

Re: RIP Mike Heintz
I met Mike through Carl Wiesinger many years ago. When my kids were young we would head up to the mountains and visit Mike and Ham, Butch and Ellen Williams at their store in Cherokee, The Buck and Squaw. We always looked forward to going out to dinner with them while we were there. Mike introduced me to the famous N.C. Slaw Burgers! Looking out on God's country from William's home on top of a mountain was breath taking. Rest in peace Mike and God bless you. The Wahl family will always remember and love you guys. Jim
