C-11 question

I have (2) 5 gal un opened pails of C11 in my trailer from Oct. .is it OK to use?

You should be fine if it was stored correctly. Meaning, if the fuel was on a wooden floor or wood planks, and if the daytime inside trailer temps weren't far higher than the night temps, it should be usable. The Renegade crossover fuel, Pro Crate 108, has a shelf life of 2 years when stored correctly.
If you have any doubts, 2 new pails of fuel are far cheaper than a piston or two.

I felt pretty good till I read your last sentence. .so your saying if the fuel is bad it will go lean? It's been sitting in the trailer on a wooden floor all winter had one freeze but hasn't been past mid 80,s here in the DFW cluster F

My thought is the light ends of gasoline that evaporate quicker (butane, etc.) have the higher octane ratings than the heavier molecules. Maybe the problem becomes detonation instead of going lean?

You would be correct. BUT, if the cans remained sealed and the day temps didn't get high enough for the cans to leak it should be ok. I would sample it at a sanctioning track to be sure it passes tech. That would be my only concern as well.

The problem with big swings in temperature is moisture forming on the inside of the metal container. It's made even worse by the metal container sitting on a dirt, concrete, or metal floor. Always store containers of race fuel on wood pallets or wood planks.
Once water begins to accumulate in the can, rust can begin, and it doesn't take long.
And the metal can, or for that matter any container with race fuel in it, will see a pressure increase as the temps rise. And that can force the light ends out of an incorrectly sealed container. Those light ends are important in racing fuel.

You should be fine. Take both cans over to fuel check if you're going to a sanctioned event and they can tell you if they are legal. I've never heard of C11 burning pistons before.

Hi Bruce, when you ran the small blocks was c11 faster than c12 and was there a difference in consistency for you? You can PM me if thats better.

C11 is faster in low compression motors. Most low compression racers use C11 over C12. Jim
