super stock truck
What are the rules on back half in a truck(s10). Tubs need to be steel? Can it be round tube? Building a bracket truck but would like to keep it legal for superstock (chassis) GM rear or 9" ?

Go through Larry Woodfin's GT/Truck build thread at this link:
http://classracer.com/classforum/showthread.php?t=54442 It's very well documented and will answer most of your questions about suspension mods in SS/Truck with pictures and a full running narrative. Dale

Re: super stock truck
An update to the Super 10 build. It now has enough runs to know the package works great. It drives straight, smooth and is dead-on consistent.
As with any build, if I could go back I would make some changes. *Only because the truck is 80 pounds overweight for GT/TB , building with CM instead of mild steel would narrow the weight excess. [or, if the driver was 80 pounds lighter, which could easily be because I am a big , overweight man] *Build with a 9" rear instead of a 12 bolt. Reason; because I run a 327 it requires RPM to perform it's best, thus, 5.86 or 6.0 rear gear. With the Chevy 12 bolt at those ratios the pinion is very small so gear life is sacrificed. The same ratios with a 9" has a slightly larger pinion helping gear life. I like a 12 bold and if ratios are 5.38 and less the gear life is much better. |

Re: super stock truck
I cut the rear frame rails before the bend and extended them slightly. Used a drop 2x3 for a cross member and did everything else in round chrome moly. Tubs need to be steel. CN
