I have a customer considering building a ford ss/gt car. whats a good eng. combo. he is looking to stick with a winsdor. based eng. . 289,302, 351? he's looking for something with a favorable hp. rating. so he can get his feet wet.

loosely based on the Windsor would be the 352 from the 2010 Cobrajet.

Mark, I'd look at the 1964 352 , with Edelbrock heads.
I know it's an FE, but if he's a real FFFFord guy, he'll love it. The 64-5 -6-7 289 Comet engine is okay, as is the 68 302 4 bbl., I believe . I think the 69 351W is too high, but maybe not.

My favorite GT combo is the '68 302 4 bbl Mustang @ 230 hp I believe

I just looked at the 69 W ,that is now 260 ,rather than 290..I'd seriously look at that one.

68 Cougar 302 uses a Holley, same 302 in a Mustang uses a Autolite. Don't count out 83-85 carb Mustang and 87-93 f.i. Mustang motors, lots of parts and decent horsepower factored.

While we're on the subject, why isn't anyone running the '65/'66 271 hp combo? Is the HP too high? Seems like it would do well in a light Comet or Mustang.
