Would have to be in the GT classes to claim a different year engine. '66 327-300 with the 585 Holley, for example.

Re: 1964 chevelle Super Stocker
Claim it as a 1965 Z-16 model. It's a 396 with a holley carb, factory rated at 375 nhra factored 395 with production heads and 405 with the aluminum replacement head. 8.48 weight break makes it a natural SS/E car 8lbs. x 405hp + 170 driver weight = 3410 minimum, this is a 4 speed only combination...10.25 index

Lots of body changes to make a '64 Chevelle look like a '65.

True, but it's his only option to run a holley...lol...I love the 64-65 cars, grew up watching my dad race one so that fueled the love, was gonna build a Z-16 clone stocker before my wife convinced me the corvette was the better way to go, she definitely makes smarter choices than I do...lol

Re: 1964 chevelle Super Stocker
I'm not Dwight(not even close, and that's a compliment BTW) but a change from '64 to '65 would require the complete front end because of the 'pointy' grille. Hood, fenders, bumper, grille, etc.On the back the deck lid trim and tail lights would need to be changed. If they're sticklers, the dash too. Eddie Rezac did it, but they were plentiful back then.
For GT you could try a '68 327/325 with the small Holley. Carb would be the restriction I would imagine. BBC headers on these Chevelles is no picnic. |

The '68 327/325 is a QJet.
The '67 327/325 is the 585 Holley.
