I need to get rid of the column shift steering column in my car. Can a stock eliminator car have a racing type steering column or will I need to find an OEM floor shift type steering column?

You need to find an OEM floor shift column. Any G-Body will fit.

Billy, couldn't you just "disable" the column shift ? On my 65 Impala I kept the column shift steering column removed the shifter arm, cut the shifter arm housing off, patched up the hole. I even removed the shifting mechanisms. The only thing left still on column is the gear selection window. I can't see NHRA not allowing that?
Hope you find that motor mount for my buddy Pat 6 cylinder, want to go racing next year in H/MP oops, I forgot NHRA got rid of the real Modified Eliminator years ago. Coolest fast Sportsman eliminator ever. Billy by the way I have the brake system all finished, thanks for your help. Will Lamprecht I/SA in progress, 2016 debut at a local Div 1 track near you. |

Here is an 84 Monty tilt column in my 57 with both the key and shifter removed filled and painted.
