voltage step down
Going to a 16 volt batteries and want to know if I should use a voltage step down device. There is resistor made by Bussman, cb22902-68, listed as a step down device. I know very little about this stuff and would welcome any help. I think I need this for the water pump, fan, and maybe the lights. Thanks

I switched over to 16 volt batteries a few years ago and didn't change anything, no problems whatsoever running everything off of full 16 volt. Maybe other have had problems but not in my case. Overall, I think switching to 16V is a good idea and worth the money.

my experience with 16 volts is the same as posted above. Everything operated just fine, no need for any reduction.

My fans run faster, power windows are faster, starter spins faster, checked with my water pump, starter and fuel pump mfgrs, all told me they were made to be fine with 16 volts. Might loose a tail light bulb per season.

I run a "single" 16/volt battery. I have a digital dash, O2 sensors, data logger, extra fan etc... I do not run an alternator. No problems what-so-ever.
If your going to make the switch, invest in a good 16/volt charger. |

One thing I have noticed is bulbs (head and tail lights) burn out faster. We keep plenty of spares in the trailer. Other then that never given us problems. And the starter works way better with the extra juice.
