Default 67 Camaro 396 alum hd- front end weight?

A friend has a 67 Camaro with a big block, alum heads, no ac, no ps.
He is ordering front drag coil springs and doesnt have access to scales.
Any idea what the typical front end weight is?

Thanks
Clark

I know what mine weighs with my SBC and alum heads per the scales. Still need a BBC/Alum head weight.

My guess would be 1700 - 1750 pounds depending on the intake used.

Jim, when I switched my '67 from Z28 configuration to SS 396 configuration, the car picked up about 220 lbs. That was with iron heads. Aluminum heads are about 75 lbs lighter. I also switched from factory 4-piston disc brakes to drum brakes (-40 lbs.), but added the SS hood (+20 lbs.).

I don't know if this will help you. But when I changed my 69 camaro from a 350/255 hp stocker to a 396/375 alum head stocker I didn't change a thing as far as front springs. I always ran the Moroso super stock ones for a small block. In the end I had to change the rear springs because they were bending at the rear eyes. Barry
