Default Battery Question

I run a Camaro Stocker w/ MSD 7AL3, electric water pump, electric fan & naturally the fuel pump.
I only use 1 12 volt battery, Is this enough for all of the items i just listed ???

Can you get by with 1 ( 16 volt battery) OR is it just better to use 2 ( 12 volt batteries )??

I forgot to mention, if its nite time racing i usually run the parking lites which includes
the tach lite and the other gauges too.

If you go to Two batteries, whats best to put on the front battery, & what would you wire for
the battery in the trunk????

Thx for any help.

i run a chevy 2 super stocker. i talked with xs power a week ago about running just one 12 volt battery. they said 1 battery would be fine and of course recommended their s3400 agm battery. the tech guy was very nice and seemed very knowledgable.

my 2 cents

Assuming you run an alternator our 7lb 900 amp 16 volt lithium battery would easily handle your application.

A good quality battery is important but, when your car is running, all of your accecssories are running pretty much off of the alternator so, having an alternator with the correct amperage output is the first thing I would look at.

As far as a battery, we run the lightest replacement battery we could find (nothing fancy) with no problem. We are running almost the same accessories as you are.

What kind of amperage alternator is recommended for a 16v system? I suspect a 55 is probably the bare minimum for a typical S/SS car.
I have a Performance "V" 16v battery and need to buy an alternator. Long ago I did a running amp test on all components and as I recall, it was about 38 amps. I might go overkill with the idea that I don't have to charge the battery at all at the races. Any input on brand, size and amperage?
