Default engine help?

went racing last night and car run fine until 3rd rd. got in car fired it up and it sounded bad and idle hi with out touching the gas. turned it off and toke off valve cover and with some of the push rods you could move them up and down. rejusted valves and still got loose. thanks.

sounds like a lobe on the cam or lifter went.

Drain oil and look for Stuff in the oil, sounds like wipped lobes. If junk in oil take apart the whole engine, everything will have to be gone over, make sure you get the block cleaned out, cam stuff will be deep in oil galleys.

If it is lobes on cam what could have cause that?? Or lifters go bad?? Motor haves 155 passes on it. Thanks.

could be wrong spring pressure or the type of oil you are using.

Just throwing this out, how are the rocker studs held in, screwed or pinned?

It would really help to know what engine we're dealing with. And some details about the camshaft, and the rest of the valvetrain.

Why would the cam going flat cause a high idle?
