Chad,
With several different 12 bolt combinations I run 1.5 quarts of conventional 80/90 GL5 gear oil. [usually Shell or Valvoline] After 100's of runs, all looks fine.

Chad, I have ran 1qt of gear lube in both 10-bolt and 12 bolt rearends for 30 years! I have never had a R&P or bearing burn up, I feel in a 1/4 mile run there is not enough heat builtup and maybe you'll gain some hp? I have run 1qt of Mobil 1 Synthetic gear lube for the last 10+ years in my 455 G/SA Buick. If you are having trouble with R&P I would guess improper setup is the cause or you have a STICK.
