Default More Noob Questions

Do truck runs with cars in Stock Eliminator? Can you have a J/SA truck and run with the J/SA cars?

ok... I am really doubting my choice of vehicle to run next year. I have really been contemplating a V6 Dakota since it is something I'm more familiar with versus the Neon..

I just wasn't sure if the same rules apply to a truck.

In NHRA, trucks run in the car classes. IHRA has seperate Truck and Car Classes. NHRA combined trucks into the car classes in 2004. Trucks had, and still have (to my knowledge), the same rule as FWD Stockers as far as camshaft. ".430 lift cam or OEM lift, whichever is greater".

What are the specs on the truck in question (year, motor size/HP, etc)?

I was looking at a 1987 Dodge Dakota V6/Auto Long Wheelbase..

The nice thing is that many of the same tricks I used on my BB Aspen would apply.

I was figuring, 4000 converter, 5.13 gear, Calvert bars, Use V8 Headers and lob off the one pipe ( since the V6 is a 318 with the bad cylinders taken off).

90/10 front shocks, 50/50 in the rear.

Then into the motor...

I don`t know how much differance there is between a 87 & 95 Dakota, but Bruce Flodin here in Div.6 has been running a mid 90`s Dakota for years, first as a C&D/TSA with a 318, and several years ago he swiitched to a V6 for P&Q/SA. He briefly held the record in P/SA at 12.67, set at Mission this past May.

They're not really "cheater" cams anymore. There's no duration or LSA rule in Stock anymore. You'd need to call Comp, or maybe Bullet.
