Default The best racers!

What division do you think is the hardest to win in, would mainly like to hear from S/SS racers.

Try it the other way - Which division would you think is the easiest to win in.
The only answer I can come up with is the one with the fewest rounds to win.

Thumbs up Re: The best racers!

The hardest Division to win in is, NHRA’s Division 3 (North Central Division). There are always nice tight point finishes at the end of the year! I would say NHRA’s Division 3 is probably the friendliest division too!

I think it's especially tough to win when Div. I racers make the long trek out to compete in Div. 7, and when Div. 7 people haul out here to race on the left-hand coast.....Bottom line: ALL Divisions are tough to win at....no cupcakes in ANY of them. ...My .02 cents only. WJ

There are two ways to look at this. NHRA Div. 1 is analogous to the big school district.... you have a bigger pool of talent to draw from, so it stands to reason that there's going to be a large number of hitters in the Division. You have to go through big fields to get a win. On the other hand, in the smaller car-count Divisions, it may be a shorter race in terms of number of rounds, but you have a higher percentage chance of having to match up with the smaller number of hitters that are there.

Case in point, one short field I ran with this year, it may have only been a 5-round race, but I had to go through World Champs Myron Piatek and Brenda Grubbs, along with pretty solid guys like Gale Pinkston.

Long story short: It's all tough, one's just a little *different* challenge than another.

'preciate the hat-tip DW, but you probably don't want to see me with a wrench in my hand. It's been done, but it ain't necessarily pretty. LOL Now, if you want to talk about guys that can drive, can go fast, AND can work on their stuff, now you're talking a select group of All-Stars! I always would've liked to have seen what Billy Nees could have done with a small block car (as opposed to a REALLY small block car.) Pretty impressive -- there was one year in the late '90s that Billy was the last guy to have a shot at beating Corda for the World, and has been Division 1 Champ, with an inline-6 Nova! Now there's a challenge for ya.
