Default bead blast cabinet suggestions

It is time to buy a blast cabinet, let me hear what some of you are using. I need one that will accommodate small aluminum parts up to large enough for a big block cylinder head or big block intake.

Also, let me know about your blast media choices.

I have a Dayton that I have had for 10 years now and like it. The only things I have replaced is the protective glass and the carbide tip. I think Grainger still sells Daytons.

A Trinmac unit built in Michigan is almost identical to the Dayton. Good quality and replacement parts are readily available and reasonably priced.

Steer clear of the crap Harbor Freight sells. The cheap price may be tempting but workmanship is shoddy and made in China. Buy a decent quality unit and it will last you a lifetime.

TPtools.com has any size cabinet you might need . They have a large selection of abrasivies and all the replacement parts. I've had mine for at least 10 years with no problems. I use it mainly to clean all the steel parts for my carburetors and then have them plated. One winter I did over 2500 pieces and actually wore-out the abrasive. I use their glass beads on the steel and aluminum parts. With the aluminum baseplates I use 40 P.S.I. and it makes them look new with no pitting. I can even clean the airhorn and fuel bowl without hurting the di-chromate plating with 20 P.S.I. They have fast shipping also. I highly recommend them. Danny

I've had my TP blast cabinet for more that ten years and wouldn't buy anything else. I had it 3 days after I ordered it!

I see the TP units on ebay. Sometimes they are listed at 10% off or free shipping.

We use an Empire Pro-finish. Have had the machine going on 15 years and it runs about 3 hours a day other than replacing consumables (glass, nozzles and hose) it's a work horse. Uses glass bead, most cleaning brass and steel. Not cheap but reliable!
