Default Racers' Co-Op

I just received a quote from Richmond for another run of the 5.00 gears. I'll put up a sticky post tonight to determine if there are enough buyers to order 50 sets.

This gear deal fired up my AADD and then the next thing that came to my weary mind was a Racer Co-Op. Just a thought, but why don't we start a Racer's Internet CO-OP Store for parts? Then we could use the profits for setting up several Big Money Stock and Super Stock races each year, including heads up and Tech. The Co-op would have "Sun Shine" rules in place, ie, transparency. There could be several divisions running off the Co-Op and all profits must be used to stage races for people who purchased a minimum amount through the Co-Op. We could probably get good pricing from the Manufacturers and possibly some decent Sponsorship money since we could prove that the Co-Op Racers are actually buying their parts.

There are many talented retired folks in each division that could give a little time to get this project up and running. And, of course, there are adminstrative costs involved but they would be capped at a very modest level. This would be truly a not for profit organization with each Co-Op Member receiving an annual Detailed accounting statement.

Constructive feedback is appreciated.

Default Re: Racers' Co-Op

Ed,
This project could work. Take the 5.00 gears as an example. A total of 100 gear sets could generate nearly $8,000.00 in profits if less than a jobber mark up was applied. And that's considerably less than what some of the scalpers were selling these gears for from the first run. That's just one item. Seems like a Co-Op could generate over $100,000.00 a year and 90% of that would be put right back into race money.
