Default 65 chevelle pan ??

HELP
I have a moroso 21016 pan (sbc) in my 65 elcamino and the drag link is hitting the pan at like 3/4 of a turn either left or right. raising the motor is not an option as it goofs with the drive line angle. Only option I see is dont turn the wheel so much or move the idler arm and the pitman arm?? ANY ADVICE?

Cool Re: 65 chevelle pan ??

I had this happen when I had a passenger side dip stick 350 in my 65 wagon. The oil pan had a different shape to it. It was squared on the lower sides and would limit the drag link travel when attempting max turn on the wheel. The origional pan or one where it is more rounded should give you the required clearance. In my case I put a rod throgh the block before I had to change pans. But it bugged me up to that point.

Are you using a Motor Plate or motor mounts?

MOUNTS
Motor is high as it can go.
This pan is just really bulky up front.
Maybe a different steering stop would work as if I dont do something its going to be leaking soon.

taller motor mounts and/or moroso shims to raise it. moroso makes shims for this problem. shim up the trans and/or cross member for trans. and reset pinion. had to do the same to my 70 chevelle.
or, mark pan where it hits, remove engine and modify pan in crucial area.
or, make your own steering stops on lower control arms to prevent over turning steering wheel.
