I put a 460 in a 79 Fairmont. I believe the hoodline is the same as your 84 LTD. You will probably need 1 1/2 inch k-frame spacers. There is a guy named "Bob" on www.460ford.com that sells those spacers. Just type in K-frame spacers in the search function. It's a start.

Should be no problem gettin it to clear the hoodline with spacers that big.

On my 87 Turbo Coupe 460 I used a Ford Van C-6 transmission rubber mount to lower the rear of the trans to help with the crank angle when I lowered the engine.

You can also order steering rack offset bushings to lower the steering rack a bit more. Of course custom engine mounts will get you a bit more as well.

I had to use a solid Flaming River steering shaft to get more exhaust clearance because the engine sits lower.

Hope this helps.
