Default Ring and pinion prep

What special prep do you apply to a ring and pinion before setup?

Bead blast both the ring and pinion at a minimum. If you ever change the rear differential fluid in your car you'll see all that black stuff, thats the black crap off your ring and pinion. Yes, that stuff is abrasive.

A very good friend of mine sets up rears and gears for a living and he does them all (PS, Comp, SS, Stk) he'ss beat a few kernals of good info into me.

Thumbs up Re: Ring and pinion prep

I agree with Mike. Cryo and REM finish is the way to go.
