One Question ? What Teardown ?? How many times has HP been hit and someone gets a teardown because of it ?? lol

When the 5.7 Challenger went 1.24 under at the points meet in Joliet this year Keith and Dave took it apart and Travis Miller conducted the inspection.

Talking Re: 5TH Gen COPO Camaro

I was at the test and tune session in Bradenton FL this week and seen the new camaro run . Car look very stiff , from what I saw the best run was tue morning with the 427 motor .

The supercharger motor did not seem to run the first 1/8 mile at all . The guys from GM took every time slip and showed them to no one . I think the car weight was around 3200 lbs with the driver in it . The car is reported to weight 3000 lbs and had no weight in it anywhere except the driver

With the reported times the car looks good on the surface , but if you compare my stock 2008 CJ at NHRA legal weight of 3665 lbs and I ran a 9.53 with 1.31 60ft right after what I thought was the camaro best run .

If I took out 450lbs I would have ran 9.10 . My mph was a best of 137mph and most of the day was 135.75 mph which was off 3 - 4 mph

The pro stock's mph seemed to be off a couple mph which I think was do to the track prep. If the 140 mph is true thats pretty good

One thing that I was curious about was the supercharged motor . For stock the block is suposed to be aluminun but the block in the car was steel (LSX) also the blower looked like the 4L unit

GM , show us the time slips , my times were posted on the board if your telling us what it ran show the slips ?

Air at the track was very steady over the 2 days of testing

Temp 75 - 80
RH 45 - 55 %
BAR 30.05 - 30.10
DA 2400 - 2900 ft
CF 102.8 - 1.037

Fastest pass for me Tue morning First run

2008 CJ
stock motor
F.A.S.T. system with MSD coils
Santuff shock's fron & rear
B&B spindles and rear end upgrade
stock rear gears & C4

From what I was told the 12-bolt is not on the table. Of course, a buyer could always change to a 12-bolt if they wanted to. I guess the tipping point on all these cars was the 2-speed in the Mustangs followed by the 2-speed and 9-inch in the V10 Challenger. I really don't see that GM can be faulted in their choice.

While I'm not a fan of the "ringer" versions of late model Mustangs, Challengers and Camaros in Stock, I am pleased to see the manufacturers taking an interest in battling each other on the dragstrips again, and with that in mind it's great to see Chevy willing to finally get in the fray.
I hate that GM couldn't do this three years ago. It is hard sitting on the sidelines. I doubt that it will be long before they are all in CC and up.

Troy that was not the first test run , maybe second or 3rd . First run was very solid . Then they had issues the rest of the day and it left early

BO, That was the only run that i could find a video of. Did the 427 run seem any faster than the supercharger run?

Tear down with head studs is not much more difficult than with head bolts. All ARP head studs have an Allen hex made into the top of the stud so u break the nuts loose then just unscrew the stud out of the block using the Allen hex on the stud just like you were un screwing a head bolt...trust me I've pulled a iron hemi head off of a 68 cuda numerous times with heads studs and if it can be done on that thing it's gonna be SIMPLE to pull an aluminum small block head off that thing...lol
