Not likely I will ever go to Indy, but the fact this is going to turn into the slam
On the brakes Nationals sucks, I love to see everyone get after it. We have a combo that will never go 1 under and got our *** handed to us in two heads up races at Woodburn, that is our issue picking the combo we have. And let me tell you we work hard, Steve Wann is killing himself to help us work on the combo, but it is what it is. No hard feelings to the guys who are faster. I have one class win in 19yrs and he went red but that?s what I have. One time a year the guys should get to show off, just my two cents, John |

There has to be a reason NHRA changed Indy to a AHFS race. Is it too much negative feedback from the non qualifying cars ? Will it cause the real quick group of cars to get HP? Maybe a few. Smart racers know how to keep the average down.

Larry didn?t you qualify #1 at the 40th, 50th and 60th runnings of the US Nationals? There was the potential for some form of penalty for going extremely far under the index at all of those events and you still survived and thrived. Actually many people say racing was way better in those days! Why the change of heart now?

We need to plan that far ahead due to time off for multiple professions (Nurse, Teacher, Engineer), commitment the financial means, and commit to car improvements between now and then. She can?t afford for her combination to be hit with hp. That would be more costly than the benefit of attending. And not knowing if this same rule will apply in 2026 nor when they will determine this makes it difficult to plan. We were so excited last night. That excitement has now waned. 😔 |

Personally I dont see this changing much. There are plenty of racers running .90 to 1.00 under at the regular national and divisional events. There is a very select few that can run faster than the instant trigger. They have to make a choice whether or not to make a fast run or not. Just depends how much they want the Indy class wally. I would be in favor of having the AHFS off for Indy. Makes it a little more special/ Interesting. Good luck to all that plan to go.

Drew, Jim Marshal used the truck to qualify #1 at the 70th US Nationals.
At the 60th I ran V/S a 22 lbs class and went 2.3x seconds under and received 29 hp. that is 638 lbs of added weight. But and it is a big but I achieved my goal making a run outside the box. And I got to repeat a favorite southern phrase: "Hey y'all watch THIS! None of that would have been possible without the help of the stock stick racers at Indy that year. I am forever grateful, Thanks again. Went through teardown and raced. |

Well, didn?t see this coming, very disappointing. Wish we would have known this a few months ago, it would have freed up a lot of weekends we devoted to working in the shop, testing and dyno time.
Coming from a ProStock background, no AHFS at Indy made sense to me, Its our most prestigious race of the year. Bust your butt, work hard, bring the best that you have, hit the tree and let it eat, may the best man win. I hope they look at again and reconsider. |

when Farmer was in charge hed casually tell you "you been runnning real good last 3-4 races we gonna move you up a class > personal information, fair assesment and it was ok .... no one liked it but it was fair now spend $100g (thanks to nhra) and one class final run and shazaam your combo is no longer killer AHFS > automatic help for slugs cannot will not EVER work we control the input data captain out > .... ill be drinking beer and tanning at the downing plantation at indy

With the number of cars, Class Eliminations was cool. Cars that never showed their hand let it all out at Indy. I was going to post one of those "I need a spot at Indy" threads but now I am not that excited about going. I'll be there but probably not racing. Robin
