Anybody out there using a the Pheonix 9x30 92'' Radial, or the M/T 29.5/9 Drag radial? I know alot of you are using the Hoosier's... Reason im asking, is , these tires are 92'', and i have tire clearance probs with a 94'' ... I know Randi Lyn Shipp is running the M/T, but dont know if its the 92'' or 93'' version. My outer wheel well lips are trimmed, and on 10'' rim, i have 94'' pheonix bias tires on it now, and nothing but problems, in the pits, not down track... Im thinkin about goin with the M/T 29.5 Radial... Any thoughts? THanks!

Radials don't grow like bias ply, so the same size radial may work well. Hoosier has 92.5" and 94" circumference radial slicks. Don't know about the other brands.

I've made more passes on radial slicks than most running stock eliminator. A tenth is the number you usually hear on small block cars but you won't see that on big block cars.

You can find the M/T tire guide info here: http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...m=ETDragRadial
They have two different 30x9 radials, one taller, one wider. I always ran the 3066R (shorter 93", but wider, true 9" tire). 110 passes like clockwork, prints tickets, and was .12-.13 faster than the bias plys. Won a Bracket Finals, World Footbrake Challenge, and a Stock World Championship on these tires. Only ran the 29.5x9's through one set. Also a good tire, but the 3066R's just fit my gearing better, and liked the extra tread width insurance.

My car does consistent 1.48 60fts with an overcammed bracket
engine. My tires don't rub, down track, just around corners, forward or backward. I thought I'd give the 29.5 Mickey's a try, because they would give me a gear between. 4.56 and 4.88...and figured they would hook just fine,as long a track was good. I bought bias, last year, before my front suspension was redone, with global west stuff. I figured radials wouldn't work too well, with factory stuff. My car seems to work pretty good,,and I think it'll work even better, with more converter and gear.

I've got a big block Stocker and had two sets of slicks, one bias ply and the other radial. I picked up .10-.12 every time I backed-to-back them, and that was nearly 20 years ago.

radials slicks back in '93, I don't think so! Maybe you were a tenth quicker with a slow "big block" olds back when it was running in the 12's but NOT with a real big block launching a nearly 2 ton ride...
