Yes, the pickup adapter was taller than the Sevilles used. What would be needed here is essentially a slice of a big steel funnel to change the diameter more than to raise it up.

I actually found a Nascar air cleaner base and hacked it up to a 69 camaro cowl air cleaner outer ring and bolted it together. Looked somewhat factory for the 69 camaro once the rubber seal and ring were mated to it. Who knows if it worked, as I never got that far into testing it.
If there's any question about your base then pull it off when you exit the track and before you get to fuel check. From what I've seen fuel check is usually some distance from the track exit. I see people that win A LOT get out of their vehicles and take wind readings after every run 50 feet from the track exit ever. Why not then just pop the hood and pitch it in the trunk.

I have a factory 57 Chevy 283/220 ,4gc base,that I used on my stocker
back in the very early seventies. Even though I am a bit sentimental about it, I would sell it to someone that would use it for stock or super stock racing. Just PM me. ed |

I made my first qualifing hit this week in gainsville without the base and my car went 7.54and a 12.12. On the second hit I installed the $40 base plate and my car went a 7.46 and 12.03. best 40 bucks i think i ever spent. I was having some issues with rpms so I was only going to the 1000 ft butThere is a solid tenth in the long track with one of these bases. This test was on my 283 chevy 2
