I see NHRA also has a new rule regarding dumping your RV tanks in. make that on, the pits. About time. Some people are real scum to think the other racers appreciate their grey water being dumped before they roll on home!

Be very, very thankful it's the NHRA and not the EPA policing this. Besides, this type of legislation is so overdue it's not even funny.

I'm not saying there doesn't need to be some sort of rules of conduct regarding this, as I've personally witnessed some really stupid things, oil being dumped on ground, tanks being drained on ground, just alot of thoughtless acts. We really try to leave our pit area looking as if no one had parked there, no trash on ground, hopefully no oil spills however sometimes accidents do happen of course we do all we can to clean up. It's really just common sense and good manners in my opinion our sport has the potential for all sorts of environmental mini disasters. I believe most racers would feel bad enough about making a mess without being fined as most take alot of pride in their rigs, race cars personal apperance. Again I just question how NHRA retains the right to levy environmental fines. This makes no sense to me. Joe

NHRA/track owns the property. It is their house, it is their rules, they can do whatever they want. Just remember, they are the ones that will get fined by the EPA. They are responsible, for what happens on their property.

So using that logic.... say you drive over to my house, you engine kicks a rod out dumping oil and you don't clean it up according to EPA standards..So I fine you $1000 right? Hey I'm the property owner. Yeah sounds silly doesn't it? Joe

Joe, I agree with your logic 100% and let's take it one step further. Legally NHRA should only be able to place a fine on a racer for a violation on property that they OWN (Indy, Columbus, Gainesville and Atlanta). At other tracks it would be between the racer, the track owner and the EPA.

What about the fines for oil downs by the pro cars?
Legally NHRA can do almost anything it darn well pleases. You agree to that when you join NHRA and/or enter an event. Didn't you read the rule book or the entry forms?

Disclaimer: I'm not a laywer, so>

In a sense that is correct. In that situation, if I didn't do a proper cleanup, you could take me to civil court an sue me for the cleanup costs, because the EPA would hold you responsible.
