Default Re: Radiator?

All of our performance oriented street cars that are around 10 years or older get swapped to an all aluminum radiator (doing 2 now). They tend to start leaking where they clamp together, personally I wouldn't chance that on a race car. Too easy to crash if they blow out and cost too much to travel to races and risk a leak that could put you out. Just my .02

Default Re: Radiator?

I put a $110 single-core radiator with plastic tanks in my modified car because it was the lightest one I could find. I have put about 50 passes on the car running between 145-147 MPH and the radiator has held up fine. I've slammed the front end several times from violent wheelstands too.

I have a fitted aluminum fan shroud which may provide some rigidity but it attaches between the tanks. It's definitely not holding the radiator together.
