Well you kinda answered my question before I asked. Lol . I have both options but was shying away from cutting the inner fender (69 Barracuda), should check if allowed. I would make them up anyway because the store bought ones are 2" and I want 1 /3/4 or 1 5/8 primary's in a step design.

I would always choose under chassis headers. I like the tallest front tires I can fit. There may be lots of room on a 55 chevy but that is not the case on an A body Cuda as well as several others.

Also, fenderwell header collectors point at the ground and stir up a lot of dirt/dust.

They don't have to. Some turn them toward the rear on the end.
