I'm sure gear ratio and car weight and shock settings will greatly effect the time difference, but the 8 magnet collar gives much better resolution of the driveshaft rpm.
I noticed a huge difference between my driveshaft readings at Lebanon Valley and ones on a graph recorded with 2 magnets.
Non throttle stop cars probably don't need this resolution ,but for a car running the .90 index's it's invaluable.
Another good point.
I think for my purpose, the G meter may be sufficient to start the run.
In the mean time I should look into the availability of an eight magnet collar.
In the long run that sounds like the way to go. I cannot remember, however I believe my current collar has 4 magnets.
Thanks for the input and suggestions.

Default Re: Racepak Download

something I just found out that might help someone else who runs into this. I just downloaded the newer version of Datalink 4.2.1 before I went to the track. When I tried to download my run, the program kept saying "com port not available." Needless to say I missed valuable information that whole evening as my runs would not open up and I didn't have time to figure out the problem. The next day I checked yellowbullet and found the answer. You need to open Datalink, go into Settings, Preferences, and you will see USB checked, evidentally it defaults to this setting. Click on Data File right beside it, and all is well, it will now open up the data card to view your runs.
Greg thanks for your info, we always learn something from you.
