1967,

Plymouth had plans to dominate the 1967 Stock Class,

If you were able to get one in November or December 1966, and
sneak to the drag strip, you could get classed in,

* 426 'Street Hemi'........... A/S and A/SA
* 440 'HiPo'........................C/S and C/SA

But, in January 1967, the NHRA 'massaged' the weight breaks,,,,,,,,,,

I was 15 in 1967.

This has me drooling now just as I would have then.

Just perfectly cool.

I was 14 at the time and got my first Drag Strip experience because my friends Uncle Sponsored this car for some tires. Car was new and I've loved the 67's ever since. Actually owned a real nice 440 4 speed for awhile in about 1973 but it wasn't a very good "winter" car so sold it to my younger brother. No idea what became of it when he was done...

The 'Pop-Open' gas cap, Thin-Slit Chromed Exhaust Tips and the
Fiberglass Faux Hood Scoops.

Bought one for $500 in 1975. The 'two brothers' who owned it, tried to rebuild the 440 engine (without knowledge).
They put the connecting rods in backwards - and they couldn't spin the crankshaft while the engine was
on the stand in their garage. They gave up.........

1968

D/S or D/SA = 9.50 - 9.99 Wt/HP

The top guys were running 12.80's with the 440/375 HP GTX.

I had a 67 gTx once and thought I'd scored, then I went to replace the funky shag carpet and found the front floorboards were red and the back floorboards were blue. Everywhere I could see with the carpet in had been rattle-canned black. One of those things you just learn as you go.
