1967 Plymouth GTX

In late-1966, when Plymouth introduced the GTX,

The plan was for the 426/425 HP 'Street Hemi' to be entered in
'A/Stock' for the 1967 NHRA Stock Class.

Plymouth even had a marketing campaign to emphasize the 67' Street Hemi
in A/Stock, where the 66' Belvedere 'Street Hemi's had dominated in 1966,
and held both ends of the A/S and A/SA National Records.

The Class weight break was 7.00 - 8.69 Wt/Hp.

But, the NHRA 'flipped' the Stock Class weight breaks, and changed
A/Stock to 8.70 - 9.49 Wt/Hp, which forced the 'Street Hemi' into
Super/Stock (SS/B).

I looked at these pictures for awhile trying to fiqure out if these pix of your car were taken in the 70's or if you built it this way recently. Nicely done Spikey.!!!!!!!!!! Well built!!!!!!
Specially like the Lakewood 3 point bar, the tow bar brackets, & front wheel/ tire combo. Engine is period correct looking.
What gave it away was the float bowl bolts, carb linkage, & billet distributor.

Again, nicely done. This thing screams 1972, but the finish is way better than what you'd find back then

Re: 1967 Plymouth GTX

In 1967, once the NHRA 're-shuffled' the deck.

The GTX 440 was classed in B/S or B/SA = (9.50 - 10.59 Wt/Hp)

Class Records,
* B/S.............12.50 @ 113.17 MPH
* B/SA...........12.97 @ 114.21 MPH

If you wanted to run in the new '1967' Super/Stock classes, there was no
record in January 1967, but there was a 'minimum'

SS/E = (9.48 Wt/Hp and up)

* SS/E..........12.50
* SS/EA........13.03

By March 1967, these were adjusted for the appropriate times.
