I had Lucas 20-50 in my car for break in then for class at the Gators I put in Lucas 0-20. I picked up 16 hundreths from the oil change. 12 hundreths first round and another 4 in the class final. Still did not have quite enough to beat the other car but made it close. I did not see much of a change in the oil pressure. I had been runnng either penzoil or mobile I 5-30 full synthetic. I recently had a lifter break so I decided to use a racing specific oil to see if it helpes with the lifter issue. So far I like the Lucas oil. For the summer in the heat I will probably go up to a 30 wt Lucas. I use a system one filter.

Uhh.... would any of the many Stock/SuperStock racers that are freinds with 1320 racer care to weigh in here? It seems somehow his expertese in every aspect of motorsports has somehow flown under the radar of mainstream Stk/SS racing how can this be? Is he only allowed to help the New Jersey racers? That hardly seems fair to the rest of us under developed wanna be racers. Asking for someones advice on what oil to use is and always will be personal preference, find someone who runs a similar combo to you and ask them what they're using and if they're happy with the results. If in fact 1320 has a similar combo and has in fact used Mobil 1 in it to his satisfaction then I retract most of my statements.Joe BTW I run Royal Purple cause I like the color.

1320racer.
Just to let you know I pulled the engine out of my super stocker this past fall. It had just shy of 300 passes on it since it's last freshen. The last pass in bracket mode was still more then -1.00 under the index. So some stock and super stockers are more then capable of going that long and turning over 8000 in the lights. Although normally we wouldn't go that long. However, the new motor wasn't done and the engine in the car kept ticking so we stayed with it. We also had a stocker engine in the shop not long ago that was in that neighborhood as well. But, we also have used Mobil1 for years and it always looks good. |

1320, Truth can be a matter of perception, Fact I've yet to see you post any relevent to the OP's question as I'm quite sure you DO NOT run anything even remotely close to his combo. To have a chance of answering his inquiry you would have to ask several questions, What bearing clearence?, what RPM range? Any mods to the oiling system?. You DID NOT ask any of these questions and know nothing about his oil requirements.... yet you post that Mobil1 is gods gift to engines. If all you have to add is "this is what my make my big block bracket car fly" then perhaps you should instill your obvious massive amounts of knowledge to the local bracket racers. So lets start with some TRUTH, I've asked several times"what class of Super Stock is E ?" So now I'll allow you to spread some "truth and Fact" the floor sir is now yours.... Enlighten us. Joe,BTW as you can see in my Sig. I race SS/BX and your class is.....

No where in either of those posts did you offer anything more than YOUR opinion, you bad mouthed a few oil brands of which you've probably never ran, you stated you've ran Mobil1 for26 years though your engine has nothing in commom with the OP's. You completely failed to answer my question of what class "E" is, you've expressed YOUR truth, offered no facts so once again you've offered information irrelevent to the thread. IF you respond please include your S/S class and how far under the index your perfectly scienced out "S/S legal" unit runs as I've looked again and fail to see the "E" designation. FWIW it's OK to be a bracket racer, we all are to a point but at least have the stones to fess up to it, and quit giving bracket racer advice to racers who are trying to make their stuff FAST!

I haven't bad mouthed any oil, I've offered my opinion as did everyone that replied has while also offering first hand experience with the oil I have been using for the past 26 years! Lastly, you assume too much. I have run Royal Purple and I run Joe Gibbs XP-1 in my son's jr. dragster.
![]() The op will and should run whatever type and viscosity oil HE chooses regardless of what my or anyone else's opinion is. IF there's anyone's opinion he should be listening to, it's his engine builder!!! Joe, get over yourself and your what does a bracket racer know mentality. THIS bracket racer KNOWS! That said, I'm sorry that my car is over a second quicker than yours, I'm sorry that I race more weekends in a season than you, I'm sorry that I race for more $ than you, I'm sorry that I win more than you, I'm sorry that I don't run the same oil you do, I'm sorry that I don't feel having to buy a new window net every 2 years is a big deal and I'm sorry I don't race in any Super Stock class. ![]() Last edited by 1320racer; 05-04-2012 at 10:00 AM. |

WOW, now don't you feel better? You finally came out and said it, you don't race a "Class Car". Now as for your car being faster than mine that's easy to prove.... I have to weigh 11lbs. per cubic inch, 276X 11=3036 -100lbs. for auto trans Min. weight for me is 2936, I run it at 2975lbs. I average 9.75 seconds. So lets set your car up to 11lbs. per cubic inch, then you post how fast you went, deal? Saying your Big Block car is faster than a car with a 6 cyl. is typical bracket racer chump talk. So in parting let me congratulate you on your "coming out" and please let me know your results at 11lbs. per cube, can't wait to here the results. Joe
