I don't think any of the factory SB Mopar intakes had a notch. Maybe the 2bbl intakes, but it's been a long time since I've seen one of those.

I don't have a dog in this fight but I'll point out that no 340 four-barrel engine had an Edelbrock intake bolted on when it rolled off Chrysler's Mound Road Engine Plant in Detroit.

The Chrysler part number cast onto the runner was there for two reasons.

1. To make the manifold legal in Super Stock back in the day.

2. For sale through dealers during the Hustle Stuff (and later Direct Connection) parts programs.

Just pointing out factual history and not distorting it.

You know, like when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor...

And all those power glide only cars did not come out of the factory with a 3 speed, but they can run one now. What's the difference?

No difference it's all BS

Fast guys will still be fast intake or not. But that extra gear really changes the car.

Correct. Powerglide-only cars should not be allowed to run a 3 speed, and 340 cars should not be able to run an intake that didn't come on them. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Moot point, I guess. I'm one of the few (apparently) that ever got fed up enough with NHRA to take my money elsewhere.

I didn't think it would have to be explained, but I will try......

The transmission rule change, which I don't agree with, was not made for one specific application, unlike the MOPAR manifold rule change....

The transmission change will mean that if a racer wants to build a racecar with a MOPAR PowerFlite or FORD Ford-O-Matic 2 speed transmissions they can upgrade to a 3 speed...

This manifold change ONLY benefits MOPAR and is not an across board rule change....

See the difference??????

There are no 50s Mopars listed in the guide.

While we're on the transmission deal maybe all of the 340 cars should go back to their 727 torqueflites too!

I guess that you are an "Older Racer"???????

I wouldn't think that a top loader or hemi 4 speed would be in any of the faster Mopar or Ford Stockers???????

I could be wrong??????

They could run one if they wanted.....

I'm not sure how to make that manifold fit on a Chevy or Ford??????
