Question M/T Slicks

Wanting to change over to M/T slicks but what is the difference in 32.0/14.0-15 part # 3074S and 3074SS? I know one is a stiff sidewall and the other is a super stiff sidewall. My car is going to be used for bracket use and on hot and slick tracks most of the time. The car weighs 3200 # with driver a BBC and turbo 400 with brake. The car runs low 10s. Should I run tubes? I was told that they save the sidewall. I know this is a S/SS site but alot of you guys have tested and used different slicks and I thought it help me.Thank you for looking and the help.
