Question drum brakes or disk

are there any gain's in et by going from drum brake to disk in the rear.

I believe that weight is the biggest gain. I talked to a local Super Pro guy that races near us with a 2800lbs car and he said he lost over a 100lbs by going to discs on all fours. Don't know anything more specific but I know that you will lose a little weight from the switch.
