I was just wondering how many folks get really picky about which oil filter they use ? I worked at a late model stock engine shop for a long time and the boss wanted filters that weren't overly restrictive as far as microns filtered. His thought was basically anything that filtered down to lets say 5 microns, would be too restrictive on oil flow. I'm curious to see what others say here.

Yes, they can be too restrictive. There's also the type of media used, and the design, as it relates to integrity. There have been problems with internal failures.
Look up Lake Speed Jr., he just did an oil filter article. He's pretty good.

I have been using system one for about 20 years. In my opinion best thing out there. Never use a cheap automotive filter on your race engine.
