Years ago running a small block Mopar we broke a rod about 7,000 RPM, the rod took out the oil pump.

The accumulator kicked in long enough to keep the engine oiled and saved the crank and the other rods.

So yes they can save parts.

Barry, race engines can and do break when you actually race which you don't. It ain't the first and won't be the last engine that fails due to a component failure and no an accusump wouldn't have prevented it. Further, the engine had over 150 passes on it when it failed something you and most stock racers don't log in 3 seasons no mind a single season.

Funny, a quick search on Drag Race Central shows Barrey Polley racing a A/SA from as far back as 2004, and as recently as 2023, but when you do the same for Ed Big Mouth, I mean, Bigley, all I see is his name at the Div.1 ET Finals several times, the most recent, 10 years ago.
Also been told that he was booted off the Team Chevelle board as well, seems even Chevelle lovers didn`t want to deal with Mr.Eds horse *****.

I have seen many Copo Camaroes and never noticed an accusump on them. Are they hiding them or just doing something different?
