Glen, I will try to help. I went from a 6al to a grid system. IGN and controller with the recommended coil. The car idles better. I was having to change plugs every other month. No more, could go for a couple seasons now.
The features are great. You can change timing during run. Many different ways, you can add a module that allows instant or last minute rpm adjustments. It has built in data recording and also includes a way to interact with racepack. Several shift or shift light activations rpm or time. Many more I’m probably forgetting. I liked it so much I bought 3 systems. 1 for a spare but haven’t needed it

If you don't mind please help me out a little. What is the benefit to changing timing going down the track?

This could be very helpful for stock and super stock. You could set the timing where the car leaves the hardest and then back it down going down track to keep from going too fast then if you get a heads up, you could always put your timing at where the car runs the best that’s just one example. Another would be at crappy, starting lines back the timing down, real low, and then ramp it back in as you go down track I’m sure you could think of a lot more.

Here is one more way I use it on my own car. I have the timing set ideally for the car to run fairly cool while idling or driving around the pits, then anything above 3500 it maxes out to what I want the car to make the run at.
