Why Stock out first??
I really enjoyed the LODRS race at Thunder Valley in Oklahoma. There were 4 classes out ahead of us. Stay up a little later. Sleep in a little....But I see in Houston we will be first out again. Jeez...Do the .90 classes with huge tires need us to warm up the track for them?...Or are they doing the 8-9 second stockers a favor with the virgin track?....I would rather sleep another hour!

Re: Why Stock out first??
It's normally a call by the race director as to who is the first classes to hit the track. It's normally based on temps, track surface, rubber put down, etc. Even with big tire the issues with the .90 cars is they basically have 2 starting lines. You have the initial hit at the tree and 300-400 feet down track when the stop comes off and you hit the tire again going full throttle. If temps are cool or there is not enough rubber down, it can make it wash out and could wad up some cars.
I liked in D1 a few years back where they switched up the rotation each run so everyone wasn't the last out. I know as a Super Gas racer you just wait for two things "The call to the lanes" or "Super Gas you're done for the day" because we're always the ones who get pushed. I did like at VMP this year on Sunday where they ran us 2nd out instead of going through the whole rotation again before R1, some classes are in R3 before we even had R1 so it allowed us to get on the road home to beat the DC traffic if we lost early. I know at our association events when we run with Dave Ley's Stk/SS Combo events, it goes Super Street, Super Comp, Stock/SS and Super Gas. |

I think it should rotate between all the classes.

Re: Why Stock out first??
Years ago when performance meant something either Stock or Super Stock (they swapped back and forth) was always out first to give them an opportunity to make a hit with the “good air” and maybe pick up that one hundredth of a second to set a record. Those performance days are gone forever and it’s too bad….

I think it might have come from the idea that Stock (Jr.Stock, years back ) were the lowest hp cars on the property. They didn't run in the 8's and 9's . or even the tens, way back...So let's put the Stockers out first and see if the track in okay, first thing in the morning ...My story and I'm... blah blah..You know the drill, as Brandon says.

Re: Why Stock out first??
Ask the division director or race director. They make the schedule
